Monopoly Clone Challenge - 1 Week - Next.js

Monopoly Clone Challenge - 1 Week Build

I’ve set myself a challenge: build a Monopoly clone in just one week using Next.js for the frontend and Golang for the backend. This project is completely open-source and free, meant purely for learning and experimentation.

Why This Challenge?

This project will give me the flexibility to work with complex UI elements while also utilizing my game development and backend skills. It’s a great opportunity to bridge the gap between frontend and backend while still being relevant to backend development.

Day 1 Progress

I hit the ground running and made solid progress on the first day:

✅ Set up the Next.js project

✅ Laid out the basic game board UI

✅ Started work on player movement mechanics

The core functionality is still in the early stages, but things are shaping up quickly! I'll be iterating daily and sharing updates as I go.

What's Next?

Implementing game logic (buying properties, rolling dice, turn system)

Adding multiplayer support

Enhancing UI/UX

Open Source & Contributions

This is a learning-focused project, and I'm keeping it open-source. If you’re interested, feel free to check out the repo, contribute, or just follow along.
